Glad, our intermediate training club, will begin to understand how music is used in worship.

This club is for children in grades one through three. At this age, the children’s awareness of music is taking shape.  Orff-Schulwerk instruments, movement exploration, and the use of hand signals may be used as tools in learning to sight sing.  Active and fun activities will not only entice participation, they will promote rhythm and vocal skills.  The children will learn to recognize and repeat rhythm patterns and to maintain a steady beat.  They will develop vocal range and voice control.  They will explore and learn to recognize music styles.  Beginning note reading and writing will be taught, as well as basic music terminology and symbolism.  This club will commit at least six hymns to memory during the club year.  They will also learn a variety of contemporary songs. Every effort will be made to foster confidence in singing and/or playing instruments and the importance of music from a Biblical perspective will be emphasized.  Glad will sing in worship services about every six to eight weeks.

Glad meets in E301 from 5 to 6 pm every Wednesday night beginning August 19.
